Waves of Doctrine

For those alive today the pinnacle of our global experience must be the international spreading and subsequent human response to the Covid-19 pandemic has seen the release of so many schools of thought.

During our lives the average person will face dozens of life-changing moments I would go as far as to speculate that at least once in a generation there are external challenges that become the insignia for that generation.

For those alive today the pinnacle of our global experience must be the international spreading and subsequent human response to the Covid-19 pandemic has seen the release of so many schools of thought. From these challenges has come a very interesting perspective on human nature. On the one side there is the official World Health Organisation action and on the other side we could see conspiracy theorists. A variety of different schools of thought becomes apparent when one sees how a particular idea is spread and then also how that particular idea flows through the peers in my life.

Very interestingly to me was the fact that I also noticed that teaching on the end times became more and more to the fore in the circles that I moved in. It seemed to me that the world of believers were reaching out for answers. On almost every turn I was exposed to end-time teaching and found myself sifting through so many different schools of thought on the books of Revelations and Daniel.

I found myself out of my depth on the topic of the end times because there was simply too much information out there for one to be entirely sure that it was being taught in an accurate and sound manner. I found the sermons and teachings on the end times particularly challenging because there were interpretations on so many dimensions of the end times. I found it tough to sift through so many theological doctrines. Especially because small variations in any school of thought could radically impact the way that one sees the prophecies of the end times.

This internal controversy brought me back to a moment in my life that changed my path forever. I recall a conversation with a pastor when I expressed my passion to warn the world of young people about the things I thought I knew a lot about such as substance abuse and Satanism. For as long as I live I will remember what he had said. It went a little something like this: If you try to warn the world against Satan you must keep tabs on Satan. If you teach the world about the Love of Jesus then Satan needs to keep tabs on you.

So it is in this time of global challenge and concern about impending doom and destruction when the majority of the world is searching the scriptures for signs of the times and with great anticipation for the return of Jesus that many people are getting distracted with the doctrine of the times.

I will be the first to encourage people to keep searching the scriptures for answers about the challenges we face in our daily lives. I am also some one that keeps researching and constantly strive to improve my understanding more about the Kingdom of Heaven and the purposes. I also stand firm on the foundational principles of relationship with Jesus. Paul discusses this issue in Ephesians 4v14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

These are trying times for believers across the world. The study of scripture and growing our biblical understanding of God’s kingdom is imperative. In spite of the importance of these considerations it is a life-sustaining imperative that we keep teaching and working on our ever-growing relationship with Jesus. That is why He gave us that one commandment to love the Lord above all else and our neighbors as ourselves. Invest in the study of new things but be wary of getting distracted by the complexities thereof.

STAY TRUE TO YOUR PEACE WITH THE FATHER.
